Commission: Adhit & Ayya Couple Session

Adhit is one of my friends for life. It’s been 12 years of friendship and he’s more like a family to me. Recently, I offered him and his partner, Ayya, for a photo session. I am always into urban and street photography. On the other side, I am trying to explore my skill in portraying romanticism. Therefore, I want to combine those different elements into one. Gladly, Adhit and Ayya were very cooperative and we had a very fun photo shoot session in the streets of Jakarta.

It was an experiment to me. I have some experiences in taking couple and maternity shots before, but it’s always the conventional one. Those with romantic poses. They are totally fine. I like that too. Some people also prefer that style. Nothing wrong with it. This time, I want something different.

Lately, I am inspired by Jatidiri Ono (@byjatidiriono) and Govinda Rumi (@govindarumi). The way they capture pictures are unconventional and their deliveries give a dynamic and moody feels at the same time. The more I see their pictures, the more it motivates me to go out and shoot with my camera.

So, that’s it. Thanks to the street of Sabang and also Claypot Popo that serves a very tasty food. I hope Adhit and Ayya had a great time with the photo session and love the pictures as well.

Commission: Wily & Vivi Maternity Session

It’s been awhile since the last time I posted something here. (I’m afraid I always start my post with sentence like this). Anyway, recently I did a commission work for my friends, Wily and Vivi. They’re expecting their baby soon by the end of this February or in the beginning of March 2019. It’s quite cute though. I remember years ago when Wily was still approaching Vivi, which was not an easy process, but it turned out they ended up as an item. I’ve followed along their journey and it’s amazing that they will have a little baby very soon.

I’m glad I could be part of their joy by assisting them in getting a good documentation of the maternity time. Wily said, “It’s not my thing, but Vivi asked me for this. Well, gotta do what a man should do.” Yes, Wily is not a fan of getting himself photographed, but he knows that this is an important milestone for him and his wife as a family.

Even though we live in the same city, we don’t meet occasionally. We always keep in touch through group chat, but the last time I met him in person was last year. So, it took me by surprise when he reached me out and asked about this maternity shot. “Really, Wily? I never thought you want to do this kind of thing! Hahaha”. But they did.

Anyway, I hope you like the results of the quick photo shoot in the backyard. I personally kinda like it. You guys are cute couple! With a new family member coming soon, I hope they’ll grow as a happy family as always!

Commission: Benino & Elisa Prewedding Session

Benino is one of my lifetime pal. We met during university time and became a very good friends since then. It’s quite funny to realize that we’re always together witnessing how we’re maturing in life, including meeting our each own life partner in the end. So, he knows the history of me and my wife. So do I towards him. I know who he has been with since the university until finally he found the true love of his life.

“I want to marry her.” I still remember Benino said that to me during a phone call when he’s away, at his on-job training site in Kalimantan. He introduced me already to this woman named Elisa, or Lisa in short. I can really tell why Benino is in love with Lisa that owns a funny and outgoing personality.

And there it goes. I ended up taking their pre-wedding photo shoot session, fulfilling their request. Of course it’s my pleasure to do so. I’m glad that I can contribute to their milestone as a couple. “I’ll treat you pizza,” said Benino when he asked me to help photograph him and Lisa. Yeah, right. Nice offer, Ben.

So, I hope I’ve delivered something that they can always look at and remember how beautiful their journey is.

Have a wonderful marriage, Benino and Elisa. Be happy, always.

Commission: Putra & Karima Prewedding Session

Putra is my coworkers at the office. We get along pretty well as friends beyond office life. This good relationship led me to my first ever pre-wedding photo session. So, I know Karima, Putra’s girlfriend at that time. They decided to go gambling by asking me, a non-professional in photography, to take their pre-wedding photos.

I took the risk. So did they.

Deep down inside, I’m nervous. I’m afraid I couldn’t deliver something that they use on their wedding day. But hey, the time I attended their wedding ceremony, I saw with my own eyes all the pictures that I’ve prepared for them.

There’s this proud feeling I couldn’t deny. “Hmm, not bad.” I said to myself. It can be better though, I hope Putra and Karima don’t mind. There’s always room for improvement and I’m glad that I’ve been given the chance to start.

For those who haven’t been able to find the chance, once you have it, make sure you’re ready to grab that challenge and turn it into a precious experience!

So, thank you Putra and Karima. Have a happy marriage for you.
